Mechanical safety lanyards can be used in a wide range of work situations where extra mobility is required. Typically the mechanical device is anchored to an approved overhead anchorage to eliminate interference with ladders and vertical work areas.

Care should be taken to address the "pendulum" or "swing" action of the Fall Arrest (FA) when Retractable Lanyards are in use. NOTE: All Retractable Lanyards require carabiners.

Retractable Lanyards feature an internal sealed sparing mechanism that allows normal controlled movement away from the device. The inertial disk brake system is activated by any sudden movement, accidental slip or fall. It functions much like a seat belt, once activated it stops the action of the fall. An energy absorber is built into the braking system and will stop a fall in less than one foot.

Some Retractable Lanyards are equipped with built-in retrieval systems and are designed to be used in rescue situations. They are NOT to be used as a winch. Once a unit has been used as a retrieval system it must be recertified.

All units have a safe work load of 350 pounds total weight and are proof tested prior to being shipped from the factory.
